The great flood

15 years ago today, Southeast Kansas was hit with a major flood. Hundreds of houses were destroyed by water. In Coffeyville, they were destroyed by oil because the refinery could not shut down in time. Due to the low cost of housing, most of these homes were never replaced. The refinery now owns most of the land that was flooded and they will make sure nothing ever gets built there again.
