Headcount day for Kansas

Today is a big day for Kansas schools. The student count on this day determines the amount of state aid each school district gets. It also determines which class high school sports teams will compete in for the next two seasons. Locally, Caney Valley could drop from 3A to 2A. The only other area school that might be affected is St. Paul which could drop below 50 students and choose to drop from 8-man football to 6-man.

Too bad the local media doesn’t cover this. With the rise in homeschooling, there could be an effect on local school district budgets.
