Since ending their seven year losing streak five years ago, the Altoona-Midway boys basketball team has been competitive. After last night’s upset of Jayhawk-Linn, they will host a playoff game for the third time. Unlike previous years, they will get a week off before hosting St.Paul. The winner will play Lebo, the only team inContinue reading “Jets win, host St.Paul Friday”

A little less dry
The droughtmonitor.unl.edu website just released this week’s drought status update and we have improved from extreme drought to severe drought. I hope it doesn’t take an additional three months to improve to abnormally dry.
Four day school week
Over the last several years, some school districts are trying to save costs by going to a four day school week. This does not work in states that mandate a certain number of days of instruction, but does in stares that mandate a certain number of hours of instruction. She chose flowers
I went to work last night and found this at the front of the store. Guys, there is still some time left in case you forgot what day it is.

The Chiefs won the big game. Valentines Day is tomorrow. Do you put the Chiefs jerseys or the flowers in the only spare display area?
Getting old
I got another reminder I am getting old when my Social Insecurity statement came in the mail yesterday. I used to get them annually until I moved to Kansas. Vacation
At most companies, you can easily figure out how much vacation you get each year. It is prominently posted in the breakroom and other places each year. Not so at Wally World. It took me almost three years to find it online and print it out. At most companies, you get one or two weeksContinue reading “Vacation”
Rain!
It has rained most of the day and will continue all night. It won’t get us off of extreme drought status this week, but it helps.
Winner
I went to watch Altoona-Midway’s homecoming game tonight. Girls got smoked 62-11. Boys got on the right end of a running clock and won 63-33. Whenever the margin in a basketball game gets to 30 points after the third quarter, the clock does not stop except for timeouts and technical fouls. I won the 50/50Continue reading “Winner”
