At Wally World we are seriously short of people. On overnights we have lost four in the last three weeks. Most of these are people calling in every week and racking up points. I know it is hard to get up at the crack of dark to get to work but these people are not even trying.
Cat-astrophe
Geelong lost to Gold Coast yesterday. With Hawthorn’s upset over North Melbourne, not only do the Cats have the wooden spoon, they are the only winless team in the league. This was supposed to be the team that defended the premiership. Really hard to do if you can’t even reach the finals.
Battle for the spoon
Halfway through round three of the 2023 AFL season, Gold Coast and Geelong find themselves holding the bottom two spots on the AFL ladder. They play each other in a few hours, the losers all but certain to hold the dreaded wooden spoon.
Footy finally comes to Kansas
As far as I know there has never been a footy game in Kansas. On June 24 this will change in a big way. The US Australian Football League will have a super regional tournament in Olathe on June 24. The east and central regions will combine for the world’s second largest footy tournament, next to the US national tournament in October. There could be 30 men’s and a dozen women’s teams assuming people can still afford to travel to Kansas City.

For only the third time in the 126 year history of the AFL the defending premiers are 0-2 and the wooden spoon team is 2-0.
Weeding out the help,Part three
When I was at the water company several decades ago, one of the fleet mechanics got fired. An audit found that he ordered parts for a four cylinder vehicle. Except for our forklifts the rest of our fleet was V-8s. Further Investigation showed that he had been doing side jobs and was getting the company to pay for the parts. Meanwhile he was charging his customer an arm or a leg for the part. Nice scam for the several years he was there.
Planting Time
After a couple of days of frost earlier this week, I decided to get started planting peppers and okra in the greenhouse. I will put some arugula in the container beds tomorrow.
Cats choke
Geelong lost to Collingwood this morning 125-103 after leading at quarter time, half time and three quarter time. Collingwood scored five goals and gave up none in the fourth quarter. This season could get ugly.
Signs of Spring
I have got a lot of chores to do to get ready for spring. I feel a personal day is coming up real soon. Time to plant the early garden stuff and do a serious decluttering of the house.
The AFL season started this morning. The Cats start tomorrow morning against up and coming Collingwood. Here in the US, teams are finally getting out for training.
Gatorade Blues
There is no more Gatorade in the warehouse, so I never have to handle it again. And since the 28 ounce bottle is now $1.72 compared to the $1.16 for the 32 ounce bottle three years ago, I may never touch another bottle of Gatorade again.
