To buy or not to buy

I wanted to hold off buying some big ticket items at Wallyworld until mid December, when I get a one time 25% discount. With the supply chain situation being what it is, I may want to buy them now. In the case of my tablet, the decision has been made by the tablet. It clearly will not make it until December, so I may miss a few posts until I get it replaced.

Summer Encore

The storm system that came through Friday brought a brief warming trend with highs in the low 80s. Fall will return tomorrow morning with the temperature around 45. Time to put the jacket back on.

Neewollah started with the stage version of Wizard of Oz. Tomorrow, the Queen Neelah talent competion takes place, with the Queen being crowned the following evening. Too bad I won’t get to see any of the events during this week long event because our store manager has declared the weekend an event day, meaning double attendance points for missing work,

Power Outage

We had a serious thunderstorm at home last night. I was at work so I had no idea the power was out until I got home this morning. According to my email alerts from the electrie utility, the power was initially predicted to be out for almost six hours and according to my clock they were close. Almost an inch of well needed rain fell and this should get us off the drought index.

I ordered some worms last week and they arrived today, when I was expecting them Monday. They were delivered by the same postal service who managed to lose a newspaper for three weeks. (I got two later copies before that one arrived last week.) I had to scramble to get them in beds that I was planning to prepare tomorrow. The worms are doing alright. Tomorrow I have some nice rotten banana peels for them. Maybe I will add some used coffee grounds from work.

End of the Football Season

In Kansas, the high school football regular season ends tonight. The local teams are not doing well. By next Friday, all of the local teams should be done. On Halloween afternoon, the two local community college teams will play for the Jayhawk Conference championship. It feels weird to end football season in October, but I guess we were lucky to have football at all.

Winter is Coming

Around here, we have had no serious shortages and prices have not gotten ridiculous. The first cracks are starting to show in what could be a worse time than the 70s. Last week, I filled up my tank for 3 dollars a gallon like I have since the WuFlu began. The day after, it shot up to $3.10. Yesterday it was $3.20. We have most groceries at Walmart, but toilet paper is starting to fly off the shelves. The frozen bunkers have less frozen food and are sometimes empty. With all of the logustical issues worldwide, things are about to get a lot worse.

Holiday Excess

It was bad enough when Halloween stuff was on the Walmart floor right after Labor Day, but now Christmas stuff is on the floor before Halloween. Normally they wait until after Halloween.

Speaking of Halloween, Indy celebrates Neewollah starting this Friday. I normally don’t go, but this year I will, since it may be a long time before I am going to be able to afford to do anything again. The economy around here may get really bad next year. I will expand on this in future posts.

New Junk, Part Two

We got started setting up our new handhelds from Wallyworld. Unfortunately we got locked out of our work apps. Since this is my weekend, I will have to wait until Thursday night.

Tomorrow, I have to go to the Indy library to do some research on local journalism, or the lack thereof. We have local elections in two weeks and our local papers have next to zero coverage. This is why we call the local rag the Urinal and their reporting urinalism.

New Junk

The long awaited Walmart take home scanners have arrived. We are allowed to use them at home for personal use. Unfortunately we can’t actually use them because of a long drawn out authorization process. And if I don’t manage to get through it tonight, I have to wait until next week. Fortunately, we got most of tonight’s stocking done this morning, so maybe we will find the time.
