May Flowers
The rains in April usually bring flowers by May 1. This year the drought delayed blooms, but only by a few days.
No rain in sight
There is a small chance of rain tonight, followed by a week of no chance of rain. Since we are still in extreme drought status, this is not looking good for the winter wheat crop that should be coming up any time now.
A little less dry
The droughtmonitor.unl.edu website just released this week’s drought status update and we have improved from extreme drought to severe drought. I hope it doesn’t take an additional three months to improve to abnormally dry.
Rain!

The maps can be accessed at droughtmonitor.unl.edu on Thursdays after noon US CentralContinue reading “An inch of rain..”
Cold snap busted
With a high of over 40, the recent cold snap is over. Most of the snow will be gone by tomorrow. At least it melted slowly, which is kind of important when you live on a dirt road. I normally have Tuesday night off, but because of the holiday I have to go in tonight.Continue reading “Cold snap busted”
Snow tonight, gone tomorrow
The Weather Channel is calling for snow tonight. This is unusual for mid-November. While we really need snow to break the drought, this won’t help much. The ground is too warm for the snow to stick and even if it does, it will melt by tomorrow afternoon.
