My quarter beef came in a few minutes ago. It just about filled my 300 dollar freezer on sale at Wally World. I got some soup bones and an oxtail. I think I will need a second crock pot. With the dramatic cooling trend starting tomorrow night, I seeca lot of soups and stews inContinue reading “Beef has taken over”

Beef found
After three weeks my beef guy called yesterday. I didn’t notice because I gave up on him and don’t check my phone or even carry it with me unless I am expecting a call. My quarter should be here Tuesday night. In the meantime I started to fill up my freezers. Guess it is timeContinue reading “Beef found”
Beef Stew weather
It’s been a little warmer than normal, but I made a crock pot of beef stew anticipating colder weather ahead. I am glad I did because my old reliable crock pot isn’t. Fortunately I got a bigger on a couple of years ago. With the price of stew meat, I went a little heavy onContinue reading “Beef Stew weather”
Ho hum holiday
Dug into the cupboards to throw a few things together for dinner. Now I have to go into work tonight. We have had two event days that I managed to avoid. Tomorrow will be the big one, but I would be surprised if it amounted to anything. Black Friday wasn’t a big deal the lastContinue reading “Ho hum holiday”
Where’s the beef?
I ordered a quarter beef that was due Nov. 12th. I have not heard from the guy since. I hope it does not arrive while on vacation. Otherwise I will be at home. The good news is I did not have to put a deposit down. The only money I am out is for theContinue reading “Where’s the beef?”
Thanksgiving dinner
We had fried chicken instead of turkey, but the dinner was a hit. Ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn and rolls. It was a lot better than the usual pizza dinner.
Free food
Wally World doesn’t pay that well, but during the busy season which started this week they do feed you. I haven’t touched my fridge in the last three days. Now it’s the weekend, I’ll have to familiarize myself with it.
Halloween is done, Christmas is here.
When I got off work yesterday morning, the Halloween displays were coming down, the Thanksgiving displays were going up and the Christmas stuff was coming in. All is normal at Walmart. I wanted to get a turkey for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I am trying to clean out my freezer for the side of beefContinue reading “Halloween is done, Christmas is here.”
Back to School
Some area schools started this week, the rest start Monday. Gatorade and juice sales are down this week at Wally World and it is not because the temperature has finally below 100 degrees either. I am ordering a quarter beef in November, so I bought a 7 cubic foot freezer to go along with theContinue reading “Back to School”
Water shortage? Not here.
With most of our area under severe drought status and the lack of rain over the past three months, water rationing plans would be announced. As of today no announcements have been made. Compare this to the Colorado River basin. Federal authorities have told the seven states along the river to come to an agreementContinue reading “Water shortage? Not here.”
