Friday is here just in time for some long overdue house and yard work. Temperatures are close to ideal and the days only grow shorter from here.

Fall Gardening
With the nighttime temperatures finally cooling down, I can start planting greens for the fall garden. The beans and peas I planted last week are starting to germinate. If we don’t get an early frost, I will have a short window to harvest them.
Got tomatoes?
Got my first tomatoes of the season. I had to cull these that grew too close together so I could get some bigger ones later. This is why I waste money buying plants, so I can have something to eat 30-45 days before the plants I grew from seed are ready.

Summer is here
Got the last of the peas in today. Now I have to figure out what should go in that bed. Still got tomatoes and okra seedlings to transplant and carrots are a possibility. I have to decide quickly before I head out of town for the weekend.

I was wondering ifContinue reading “More drying out”
Eye of the storm.

I never grew okra, since it never grew well on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Here everybody grows okra, so I never bothered until this year. While notContinue reading “Eye of the storm.”
Rain rain go away….
The forecast here calls for rain every day for the next ten days. Just thought I would get my whining out of the way.
Back to the grind
Moved some of my first transplants, and a few plants I bought to their permanent homes. Getting ready to go back to work after a three day weekend.
