You know it’s hard to find help when Walmart is raising their entire payscale for the second time in two years. The bottom of the scale has gone from 11 dollars an hour to 14 dollars as of March something. The last raise cost us our profit sharing. I wonder what we are going toContinue reading “Walmart raising wages again”

Food inflation takes a breather
The after Christmas sale is on. Not only is Christmas candy on sale, but turkeys and hams are on rollback as well. Even better in Kansas, Sunday the sales tax on groceries goes down from 6.65% to 4.65%. Of course most places that sell food are in towns that add 3% to that. Bills and more bills
I wrote about the trend in corporate America of eliminating Christmas bonuses. I don’t mean renaming it holiday bonus or year end bonus. I mean not giving anything at the end of the year. Compare this to the Colorado River basin. Federal authorities have told the seven states along the river to come to an agreementContinue reading “Water shortage? Not here.”
Shrinkflation, Part two
I noticed that condiments and canned goods contain more water than before. Not only are mustard and ketchup runnier, but they flow out so easy you get way too much on your sandwich, which causes you to buy more. Canned soups have over a quarter can of water, twice as much as before. I guessContinue reading “Shrinkflation, Part two”
Shrinkflation
Prices are up, packages are smaller, and quality is down as well. Backwoods Home Magazine announced that the current issue is printed on cheaper paper and contrary to what they say , you can feel the difference. Oh, and I just added a category tag.
