In small towns across the United States, Sears had a bunch of independently owned Hometown Stores. Last month Sears announced they would all close by the end of February. Since Independence has a Hometown Store, I guess I should see if they have any tools or lawn and garden equipment at a decent price. ConsideringContinue reading “Hometown Store closing down”

Rebound
Today is hump day and I am feeling a little better. I got up and sorted some old clothes to give away. Looks like I will need to go to the laundry to wash them. At least the weather is nice.
Flee markets
Around here there are a bunch of antique stores that sell nothing but junk. They buy the junk at auctions that literally have to give the stuff away. Even when the economy was better, people could not afford to buy it. If you go by one of these places, flee.
Train of thought derails
I get a lot of ideas for posts, but I forget about them by the time I get online. I have decided to start drafts I can finish later as soon as I get to reliable internet.
Dodging jury duty
I went to work last night and forgot I had jury duty today. If I had remembered, I could have called the jury hotline to find out if I had to appear. I had just enough time to get off work, go home, find my summons, and look online to see if I had toContinue reading “Dodging jury duty”
Breakdown

Time out
I decided to take the next two nights off from work. And with jury duty next week, I may get more time off work this month.
Garbage sales
I have been noticing a lack of garage sales this year. People do not want to waste a weekend waiting to collect peanuts. What is available is mostly junk and used clothes. With newspaper advertising rates being high for the number of people you reach, sellers are using social media to sell items that haveContinue reading “Garbage sales”
Zzzz……
I didn’t realize I was tired until I woke up at 7 tonight. I got a solid seven hours of sleep. I rarely get more than four without waking up needing to go to the bathroom.
Mask mania?
I have recently noticed more people wearing masks in the last two weeks. I see a half dozen a day where last month half a dozen days would go by before I saw someone with a mask on. No government official or medical professional has recommended wearing masks anywhere but hospitals and nursing homes. DoContinue reading “Mask mania?”
