Schools in the county are going to remote learning this week. At least the kids are off tomorrow because of the MLK holiday.

Omicron Has Landed
The latest WuFlu variant has arrived. Several high school basketball games have been postponed and most of the rest are requiring masks for spectators. Hospitals are nearing capacity. This is not due to a lack of beds, but because of staffing shortages.
Polar Vortex Junior
December will end up a bit warmer than normal. January will try to make up for that and will get off to a good start Saturday as temperatures will drop until Sunday morning when the temps bottom out in the low single digits. Depending on how much snow we get we could stay below freezingContinue reading “Polar Vortex Junior”
Spring is in the air
Temperatures are in the 70s this weekend. I haven’t worn short sleeves at Christmas since I lived in Pboenix. Now if I could just do something about the wind.
Better late than never
Winter is finally going to arrive this weekend. Temperatures will drop below 20 degrees Sunday morning. After not needing heat the last two days, this should at least help keep the bugs down next summer. Of course now I have to put covers back on my radishes and greens.
Cash Crunch
With Neewollah starting in earnest tonight, I decided to get some ash from my bank’s ATM. There was no cash in it. The one across the street did not have any either. According to my email alerts from the electrie utility, the power was initially predicted to be out for almost six hours and according to my clock theyContinue reading “Power Outage”
End of the Football Season
In Kansas, the high school football regular season ends tonight. The local teams are not doing well. By next Friday, all of the local teams should be done. On Halloween afternoon, the two local community college teams will play for the Jayhawk Conference championship. It feels weird to end football season in October, but IContinue reading “End of the Football Season”
Winter is Coming
Around here, we have had no serious shortages and prices have not gotten ridiculous. The first cracks are starting to show in what could be a worse time than the 70s. Last week, I filled up my tank for 3 dollars a gallon like I have since the WuFlu began. The day after, it shotContinue reading “Winter is Coming”
