When you work at Wally World and have insurance, Wally is your drug dealer. It is more and more common for insurance companies to push you to use a certain drug dealer. When the company you work for has a pharmacy, they become your drug dealer as well as your employer. I had to pickContinue reading “Drug dealers”

Memorial Day
A lot of blogs I follow had a post about Memorial Day. I didn’t bother because like most holidays, it went by before I knew it was there. Wally World only gives its employees two holidays a year, Christmas and Thanksgiving, neither of which are paid. Since most holidays are on Monday or Friday, IContinue reading “Memorial Day”
More suspects
We have four new hires on overnights last week. It is too early to figure out if they will stay, but they seem a little slow. Hopefully their speed will pick up as they spend more time in the aisles.
Soda shortage
I forgot to mention in yesterday’s post that Sunday night is the slowest night for stocking freight. There was very little soda on the shelf last night and wasn’t much more when I left this morning. Hopefully Coke and Pepsi will fill in the gap today, but even their shelves were a little bare thisContinue reading “Soda shortage”
Soda shortage
We didn’t have a lot of soda to put on the shelves Friday night and Saturday night there were no 2 liter, 12 pack, or cases of Great Value soda. There wasn’t much more to put on the shelf last night. So expect more empty shelves the rest of the weekend. At least Pepsi andContinue reading “Soda shortage”
No news(papers)
I went to Ottawa, Kansas yesterday and tried to get the local papers. Ten years ago I got the Kansas City Star, Lawrence Journal-World, Topeka Capitol-Journal, and the Ottawa rag, all of which were dailies. I went to three convenience stores and not one of them sold newspapers. They didn’t sell sandwiches either. Ironically WalmartContinue reading “No news(papers)”
Marketing mitsakes
In addition to Soylent Green, Walmart now sells Liquid Death water. Maybe the woman behind the recent Bud Light campaign may be average among her peer group of marketing gurus.
Weeding out the help, Part five.
Another stocker quit at Wally World the night before last. He just walked out at lunch time and never returned. He also never told anybody he was leaving. It’s not like he had another job lined up and with the economy about to take a serious dump, he may not get another. I noticed thatContinue reading “Weeding out the help, Part five.”
Inventory
I had to work on my night off to prepare the shelves for the annual inventory. No matter what job you have, there will always be some tasks that are frustrating and irritating. Rounding up stray boxes of Jello and figuring out where they are supposed to go is high on that list. So isContinue reading “Inventory”
Weeding out the help, Part four
At Wally World we are seriously short of people. On overnights we have lost four in the last three weeks. Most of these are people calling in every week and racking up points. I know it is hard to get up at the crack of dark to get to work but these people are notContinue reading “Weeding out the help, Part four”
