It was warm when I got off work this morning. Went to bed and woke up with a headache. I got some fluids in me, but I decided to take a sick day and rest up for tomorrow.

Shaking off the rust.
For the first time in two weeks, I got on the bike. I took my monthly trip in town to pay bills and actually got to the bank right before they opened. After my doctor’s appointment, I got on the bike and struggled a bit getting back. Still I rode 20 miles and with anContinue reading “Shaking off the rust.”
Cherry Picking
I considered riding the bike to work last night. The temperature was at the upper end of the range I would consider riding in. Unfortunately I slept too late to ride. Tonight won’t work because I have to get groceries tomorrow morning when I get off work. I have a doctor’s appointment Wednesday, so IContinue reading “Cherry Picking”
Heat Wall
The temperature is in the upper 90s and the lows will be in the upper 70s. I may have to break down and put the window unit in now instead of waiting until July 4 like I usually do. Last year I never put the AC unit in.
Sightseeing in Tulsa
I try to spend at least one day of my vacation being a tourist and today was the day. I heard the Tulsa Zoo was a half day zoo, meaning that you could see everything in half a day. I got there right after it opened and saw almost everything in two and a halfContinue reading “Sightseeing in Tulsa”
Heat Wave.
It seems to get hot every year just as Tulsa Tough begins and this year is no exception. The high was 85 in Coffeyville yesterday and 93 in Tulsa today. With a heat index of over 100 all weekend, I am glad I am not one of the riders. I pulled into town today duringContinue reading “Heat Wave.”
Planting Time
Once yesterday’s snow melts, it will be time to think about planting the spring garden. The weather forecast calls for occasional frost for the next two weeks. Salad greens and root crops can go in now. Peppers, squash, and beans next month.
Snow Today, Gone Tomorrow.
I woke up to three inches of snow this morning. This afternoon it started melting. By tomorrow afternoon, it will melt away. The forecast calls for spring temperatures to stick around.
More Dusting
We got a surprise dusting of snow last night. It’s not even noon but it’s gone already. My pond could use a good six to eight inch snowfall with a slow melt. Not likely to happen this year. According to droughtmonitor.unl.edu my land is on the border between moderate and severe drought. Thanksgiving Day itContinue reading “More Dusting”
Happy Days Are Here
Today ends Persephone Days. With exactly 10 hours between sunrise and sunset, plants will begin to grow again if they were not killed by frost. Some of my radishes have survived along with some salad greens. With temperatures going up this weekend, I may even be able to take the covers off the beds forContinue reading “Happy Days Are Here”
