Today will be the last warm day for quite a while. Tomorrow morning I will have to bring in the peppers and the okra because by Sunday morning it should be below freezing. By Wednesday the low should be around 20 degrees, too cold for covers to work although I might be able to saveContinue reading “Jack Frost is coming soon”

Bringing in the peppers
On average, tonight should be the first frost of the season. The weather forecast calls for temperatures to stay above freezing for the next week. After that, I am not taking any chances.
Solar Eclipse a bust
Southeast Kansas was in an ideal position to get a good partial eclipse today. Unfortunately it was mostly cloudy. Worst of all, there was no rain adding to the drought that has gone on for nearly two years. Cold front moving in.
The week began with temperatures in the 90s. By Saturday morning it will drop below 40 degrees. The storm coming through tonight will bring a long term temperature drop, and not a day too soon.
Test run

End of summer at last

Missed it by that much
For the second time this week it rained at work but I got none at home. It is supposed to rain twice next week. Hopefully the storm track will drop about ten miles.
Cool down
Summer may be finally over as high temperatures will drop into the 80s early next week. It hasn’t rained here for over three weeks. Hopefully that will change tonight as storms are expected in the area. We got some at work Tuesday morning but none of it fell here at home just 10 miles awayContinue reading “Cool down”
Heat dome collapses
After today temperatures drop from the unbearable 100s to the normal nineties. The biggest difference is in the night temperatures. 75 degrees or more is like putting salt in the wound, but lows in the 60s when I get off work feels refreshing.
