All of our team leads were off last night. A pair of associates also called in, causing the janitorial staff to help stock shelves. The bare minimum of cleaning got done. A night or two won’t be so bad. Another week or two and we might not have any help left.

Happy Leap Day
Today is Leap Day and payday. In my 45 year working career they have never occurred on the same day and never will again.
Danny Boy, the sequel
Any town big enough to have a Walmart has another grocery store. For people who get fired by Walmart, this gives them a second chance to show their worth. In some cases they confirm Walmart’s judgement that they are as useless as a bag of football bats. Our hero got fired by Walmart after lessContinue reading “Danny Boy, the sequel”
Down for an eight count
After collecting the money for the water bill from my elderly tenant, I have come down with a cold. I have been in bed all day and may not go into work tonight. I have a class tomorrow morning that I really need to make.
Is the promotion worth it?
I stayed late at work today because one of our two team leads called in and several people left early. Normally team leads come in two hours early and can stay two hours late or even more. Looking at a transfer
I was talking to one of the team leads at Wally World and he mentioned there were several team lead positions open in Indy and one in Coffeyville. Super Bore
Slept through another Super Bowl today. Working overnights will do that to you. Now with no TV and no city papers in the area, I may not ever find out who won. And the local team is in the game.
Mr. Attitude
We lost two more people on overnights last week. One thinks he can be a rap star and quit. The other became known as Mr. Attitude because he didn’t want to do anything you asked him to do. This was compounded by his complete lack of social skills or any other skills. He talked trashContinue reading “Mr. Attitude”
Dodging storms
We have been getting cold weather and a little bit of snow in the last week. At least we weren’t stick at work like the people at the meat packing plants in Dodge City and Holcomb. The eight inches of snow were one thing, but the wind was blowing cars off of the roads. ThrowContinue reading “Dodging storms”
Weeding out the help, stoner edition
Most companies started drug testing for job applicants in the 80s and the bottled water company I worked for was no exception. A side benefit was weeding out people who were too stupid or indifferent to more useful than a bag of football bats. One such suspect had six months notice of pre-employment drug testing.Continue reading “Weeding out the help, stoner edition”
