In spite of missing 60% of their shots on goal, Geelong managed a 91-63 victory over Melbourne. The margin of victory was important. Had Melbourne managed another two goals, they would have kept their loss close enough to keep their spot on top of the ladder.
Fremantle and Brisbane could theoretically catch the Cats with convincing victories this weekend, but they would have to set a scoring record and completely shut down their opponents.
